Washington Healthplanfinder
Make the marketplace easier to navigate.
Washington Healthplanfinder is Washington’s official health insurance marketplace. Use it to compare private plans, check financial help and apply for Apple Health when eligible.
Financial help
Different programs lower different costs
Monthly premium
Premium tax credits
Eligible households may qualify for federal help with a Marketplace health plan’s monthly premium. The application considers income, tax household, other coverage and additional eligibility rules.
When you get care
Cost-sharing reductions
These lower deductibles, copays and other out-of-pocket costs for eligible applicants. Income-based reductions generally require a Silver plan. Separate rules can apply to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native applicants.
Washington support
Cascade Care Savings
State premium assistance may be available with eligible Cascade plans, usually Silver or Gold, subject to income, other eligibility rules and funding. Eligible Tribal members may have additional plan options.
Choose carefully
Cascade Care is a plan design. Savings are separate.
Cascade Care plans use standardized cost-sharing designs to make benefit comparisons easier. Plans can still differ in premiums, networks, covered drugs and customer service.
Seeing “Cascade” in a plan name does not mean every applicant qualifies for financial help. Review the eligibility result and the actual net premium shown for your household.
See Cascade Care Savings rulesKeep your application current
Report changes in household income, family size or other coverage. Federal rules and assistance have changed since 2025; last year’s subsidy is not a reliable estimate for a new plan year.

Compare the numbers, not just the label
Bronze
More cost-sharing when you use care
Often has a lower premium before financial help and higher costs when you receive care. Check the actual deductible and covered services.
Silver
Check eligibility for extra savings
Income-based cost-sharing reductions generally apply only to Silver Marketplace plans. Compare the version offered after your eligibility result.
Gold
Often less cost-sharing
May have a higher premium before assistance and lower costs at the point of care. Actual premium order varies by plan and location.
Metal categories do not measure care quality or guarantee which plan costs least overall.

A change in your life
Check special enrollment
Losing qualifying coverage, having a baby or certain other events may open a special enrollment period. Many deadlines are 60 days from the event; eligibility, documentation and start dates vary.
Available year-round
Apple Health applications
You can apply for Washington Apple Health at any time. Other special enrollment opportunities may also be available based on your circumstances.
Confirm your eligibility, deadline and effective date with Washington Healthplanfinder or the carrier before ending existing coverage.
Your next steps
From application to active coverage
- 01
Gather your information
Have household details, birth dates, estimated income, current coverage and any qualifying-event information ready. The official application may request identity or eligibility documents.
- 02
Apply, then compare
Review the eligibility results before selecting a plan. Check your doctors, medications, benefit summary and total monthly cost, including dental if needed.
- 03
Finish enrollment
Complete any document requests and follow the carrier’s first-premium instructions when payment is required. Confirm the effective date and active coverage.
For families: household members can qualify for different coverage. A child may qualify for Apple Health while a parent shops for a private plan. Pediatric dental may require a separate dental plan.
Common questions
Get clear on the details
Is Healthplanfinder an insurance company?
No. It is the state’s official marketplace. Private insurers issue the qualified health plans; Apple Health is Washington’s Medicaid program.
Can I apply for Apple Health outside open enrollment?
Yes. Apple Health applications are accepted year-round. Eligibility depends on the applicable program rules, not just a single income cutoff for every household.
Is dental included with my medical plan?
Do not assume it is. Healthplanfinder offers separate dental choices and requires pediatric dental coverage for children 18 and younger on the application, with different handling for Apple Health. Review official dental guidance or explore direct dental and vision quotes.
Can a broker help me compare plans?
Yes. We can help explain the choices, review networks and prescriptions, and walk through enrollment. Healthplanfinder also has provider and prescription search tools; confirm important network details directly before choosing.
Where should I start if I am not sure I qualify?
Use Washington Healthplanfinder to check your eligibility, or schedule a review with Washington Insurance Brokers. We can help you understand which details to bring.
Want a second set of eyes?
We can help compare your options and explain what to check before you enroll.
